How the colours we associate ourselves with can affect every
aspect of our wellbeing
The world we live in is alight with colour but were you
aware of the effects different colours could have on your mental, physical,
emotional and spiritual wellbeing? The
use of colour therapy can helps us to understand the positives and benefits of
the use of colour within our lives. So what are some of the ways we can use colour
for effect?
The most obvious is through the clothes we wear, how often
do you give a lot of thought as to the outfit you choose on a daily basis and
yet subconsciously depending on our moods we will be drawn to wear certain
colours to reflect how we are feeling, this of course will also depend on the accessories
we choose, another example is when decorating your home do you think about how
the colours you choose will make your home feel either warm and cosy or cold? Many women dye their hair depending on how
they feel within themselves or if they have had sudden life changes because
they want to feel different an example is blond because as the saying goes ‘blonds
have more fun’ and yellow is viewed as a cheerful colour.
There are many other ways that we can use colour to bring a
new energy into a space or promote healing and these include wearing jewellery
or scarves, adding flowers or candles to your home, putting the relevant
coloured crystals into your shower head, breathing in that colour to help heal
the body, looking at a coloured light, consuming food and drink in that colour,
or simply mediating with that colour in mind or saying the name many times
over.
Each colour vibrates at a different level and energy and a colour
that is not primary will contain the characteristics of all the colours contained
within it. Therefore it is so important to fully understand the concept of
colour as for some conditions it can be very healing but for others it can make
the problem much worse. Everywhere you look colour is being used but look a
little closer and you will start to see similarities you may not have noticed
before as colour can not only change the way you feel and affect medical
conditions but it can also change atmospheres and behaviour.
For example a lot of therapy of health care business’ use
green this is no coincidence as the characteristics of green are calming and
nurturing, many food outlets use red as it stimulates appetite or did you know
that orange is often used in marketing as buttons to click on as it stimulates
happiness and fun?
So what are the negative and positive characteristics of
using each colour?
