What is a highly sensitive person and how can you recognise someone who is one? Highly sensitive people or hsps for short make up 15 percent of the population, they have similar characteristics to Empaths and if some are a combination of both (myself included) the qualities they share will only be intensified. As I have learnt from previous experience HSPs need to choose their friendships, work environments and personal relationships very carefully due to their highly sensitive nature which is their strength but also their weakness as they can get easily wounded by hurtful or insensitive words and other actions that other people may not be affected by . Therefore, it is very important that they choose environments and relationships where others can understand their highly emotional nature and make them feel not only loved but understood. So how can you easily recognize a hsp? Due to their delicate nervous systems they are not only incredibly sensitive but also startle easily wi...

What is an Empath and how can you recognise one?

What is an Empath and how can you recognise one? Empaths are generally highly intuitive people that are able to feel what another person is experiencing either physically or emotionally, almost as if they personally feel that person's pain or emotion within their own minds and bodies. Whilst this is indeed a beautiful trait to have, for the Empath it can at times feel over whelming and sadly makes them an easy target to be taken advantage of as they are the person that everyone will call or contact when they have problems they need to discuss. Empaths also due to their sensitivity tend to absorb other people's energy leaving them feeling exhausted and they often need a lot of time alone to recharge themselves again. Empaths can generally tell just by being around a person how they are feeling as they are attuned to recognising energy changes and as a result can instantly recognize manipulate behaviour such as lying or toxic energy of any kind which means being in a partner...

Why do people judge and form prejudice towards others?

Why do people judge and form prejudice towards others? Sadly in the society we live in today there are still numerous concerns in relation to discrimination as I spoke about in my previous blog I have often been unfairly judged due to the work that I do, this is because unfortunately it only takes for someone to either have a bad experience or for something not to be practised with the right intention and as a result everyone in that field is automatically linked to that negative connotation is this fair? No does this happen? Yes. Another example is a very close friend of mine has in the past been rejected from certain opportunities because her skin tone did not match what the employers were looking for despite the fact she was more then qualified for the position. These are both completely different situations and yet they each highlight the damage that can be inflicted to self worth due to judgemental and prejudice behaviour so what are some factors that may cause someone to ac...

What is the shadow self and why is it so important to acknowledge?

Image
What is the shadow self and why is it so important to acknowledge? Our Shadow self is the part of us that we often prefer to keep hidden from others, it is the unconscious part of our character that represents what we feel is negative or unacceptable emotions, desires or impulses that we feel embarrassed to share or show for fear of judgement from others or a lack of understanding . Every one of us have a shadow self which is often repressed due to social pressure or fear of judgement from others. The shadow self however is something that we need to embrace because if we don't we are unable to grow internally. Our Shadow selves can vary enormously from harbouring negative emotions including Anger and Rage to erotic desires or festishes. If we have been brought up in an environment where we felt unable to voice an opinion or have experienced trauma of some kind it is only natural that we may feel many different pent up emotions that stem from pain and fear including Anger and Rag...

What are the most common causes of low self esteem? There are numerous reasons that a person may be struggling with self esteem issues and it is often due to encountering one of the issues below. As a result we give up our power and forget our worth which leaves us vulnerable for others to take advantage of, control or manipulate which only lowers our self esteem even further. Constantly comparing themselves to the stereotypes portrayed on social media and feeling not good enough . Having a mental or physical health care concern. Bullying at school, in the work place or trolling on social media Feeling judged and experiencing criticism from teachers or those in authority. Emotionally distant or unavailable parents or caregivers. Parents who were in constant conflict throughout childhood Physically, emotionally or mentally abusive relationships .
