What are some different ways to use essential oils ?

Essential oils can be used in a variety of different ways why not try some of these suggestions out for yourself?
Massage
Add to a base oil for additional therapeutic benefits
Problem Skin
Dab directly onto the area(if safe to do so) or combine with a base oil
Bath
Run a bath and then add a few drops of essential oil not during as the oil will evaporate
Steam
Add a few drops to a bowl of hot water for a luxury facial
Perfume
Dab a few drops on your wrist instead of your usual perfume for a change .
Burner
Add a few drops to some water in a burner then light a candle and wait for the air to be filled with a lovely aroma, you can also buy diffusers that combine water and essential.oils just plug into the mains and enjoy!
Candle
Whilst burning a candle add a few drops of essential oil to the melted wax for extra aroma.
Inhale
To clear the sinuses or have a calming effect
Add to Beauty and hair care products
Add a few drops to Shampoos and conditioners, body moisurizers and shower gels. An easy way to pamper yourself, whilst caring for skin and hair at the same time.
Cleaning
Add a few drops to cleaning products to freshen the home.


Using essential oils to alleviate common conditions

Headache
Rub 2 drops of Peppermint ,Lavender or Rose mixed with 5 ml of base oil into temples or back of the neck for 5 minutes for relief .
Colds /Flu
In a bowl of hot water add a few drops of Eucalyptus and steam the face with a towel over the head to clear sinuses . This oil can also be used on bruises.
Problem skin
Dab Tea tree oil directly onto spots, lemon and Petit grain are also beneficial.
Anti aging
Add a few drops of Frankincense to a bowl of hot water to steam the face. This oil is also good for cleansing bad energy .
Insomnia
Add a few drops of Lavender,Jasmine or Sandalwood to your pillow to help you sleep better .
Stress
Lavender,Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood are all highly beneficial for relieving Stress and encouraging relaxation. Use in massaging,a bath or place in a burner.


How to use essential oils at home

We have explored various uses for essential oils but how can you use them to cleanse your home?
Here are a few ideas
For smelly insoles in shoes mix a drop. of tea tree oil with 2 tbsp baking soda, let the mixture soak into the soles and dry for sweeter smelling shoes!
To freshen up the carpets from pets put 2 drops of Lavender or orange oil into a bottle of water and spray.
For a fresh smelling kitchen add 2 drops of lemon or rosemary to your bucket when mopping the floor.
For fresh smelling clothes soak a tissue or cotton wool pad with lavender and put in your drawers or wardrobe .
To deodorise bins add a few drops of grapefruit or lemon to the base of the bin under the bag.
For a car freshener put a cotton pad with a few drops of cedarwood or bergamot . Peppermint will help with travel sickness.
To clear a cold or cleanse the air put a few drops of Lavender,peppermint or eucalyptus in a diffuser.
To create a relaxing environment put lavender ,frankincense or bergamot in a burner or diffuser.
Add a few drops of tea tree or lemon oil to a pan of simmering(not boiling) water and let the aroma cleanse the air for the kitchen smells.
