Why is support so important for those struggling with their mental health and what can you do to help yourself

Due to the stigma that is sadly still surrounding mental health many people who are struggling will not get the help and support they need which can be partly due to their fear of acknowledging they have a concern, being judged ,ridiculed or being a burden on loved ones or feeling misunderstood ,which then stops them reaching out for support. This in turn leads to them feeling isolated and alone which can only cause their condition to deteriorate even further.
Getting support for mental health is so important because it can help you learn to manage and cope better with change so you do not feel so alone, this helps to give inner strength and makes you more resilient to the inevitable challenges of daily life. Having support around you can not only reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation , but help give you the necessary information, help and guidance to learn new ways of dealing with challenging situations and difficult decisions.
Consider making changes to help yourself , listen to advice , improve your diet and make sure you are adequately hydrated, speak kindly to yourself, self care is important.
This will inevitably improve the quality of your life and help make it seem a little less overwhelming. Community based care , Charities such as Mind or the Samaritans ,together with Social Services will listen and can help with advice on everyday tasks such as applying for help or benefits, managing finances or even improving relationships. Health care professionals are there to help and will recognise if there is a concern so never feel afraid to reach out.
Sometimes symptoms can be more serious and medication may be required or hospital treatment for those who are in crisis. I would urge anyone who is struggling...you are not alone so many people are afraid to say how they are really feeling but yet that is the first step in getting the help which is needed, being honest with yourself above anything else and sharing your concerns with others so they can help you to live a happier and more productive life in the long-term

What are the most common Mental Health conditions?
Every week in the UK alone 1 in 6 people report a Mental Health condition which is a frightening statistic and It is thought that social and economical disadvantage, loneliness and isolation and personal nutrition are the main contributing factors.
This is hardly surprising given the state of the world at present and the huge shift in the economy, buying basic groceries now can prove to be very difficult for many and it is only set to become more so in the future. As a result many people are struggling on a daily basis and some more then others.
Every mental health condition can feel unbearable to the one who is suffering, everyone will feel differently ,personally when I feel triggered with Anxiety my heart starts racing, my temperature increases rapidly and I feel I can't breathe properly as if this terrible fear and panic which is often completely unfounded and yet feels very real to me grips onto you and if feels like the walls are closing in around me. What I find helps is first of all to avoid potential triggers but if it does happen having space and quiet to just process the emotions I am feeling and try to rationalise them can really help as can a hug from a loved one for reassurance. For others however their symptoms can be much more severe so I consider myself one of the lucky ones.
Below are 10 of the most common Mental health conditions
Depression
Eating Disorders
Phobias
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Panic Disorders
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Schizophrenia
Bi polar Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder
