The Root or Muladhara as it is known in Sanskrit is the first Chakra and is the most important of all the chakras because it is the gateway or entry portal controlling the flow of energy into the adjoining other 6 major chakras. It is a masculine chakra, therefore it sends life force out, but then projects the energy received back downwards creating a sense of grounding with stability in the body to give a sense of security. The root chakra gains its energy flow from smaller chakras in the feet connected to the ground, which then project the flow of energy up larger feeder channels in the legs and then the energy is directed into the chakra itself. This chakra is often consistently noticeable in successful business people, soldiers and athletes, as it signifies making the decision to take action and move forwards to therefore successfully achieve your goals, using the chakras characteristics of motivation and discipline to do it. We have all seen a person walk into a place and just command the attention of everyone in that space. They just seem to have that certain something, a presence and vitality and are very aware of their power and charism they are signs of someone with a strong and balanced root chakra. Signs of a healthy and balanced root chakra are good time keepers and time sensitive, those with a strong root chakra will never be late or keep you waiting, they are present and will enjoy looking good and taking care of themselves, so they can feel secure and grounded within themselves, they are energetic and motivated with a good positive attitude ,and always careful to maintain boundaries, they are self-assured with a powerful presence and will confront a situation if necessary, inevitably successful at the things they do and therefore always able to take care and be responsible for their own survival needs. Learning to re balance the root chakra: Start by becoming more responsible in regards to money, work ethic and your choices setting appropriate boundaries when necessary. Do the necessary internal work to heal previous trauma and build self-esteem so you learn to put yourself first instead of others.
