What does meditation mean and how can I learn to practice it? Meditation is a practice dating back over thousands of years and practising it consistently on a daily basis can help to improve every aspect of our lives including our health, sleep, work and relationships. Meditation is learning the art of stilling the mind so we can increase and expand our sense of focus and awareness. Our minds are constantly active in our daily lives, planning out our every aspect of our day and it is little wonder that we can so easily feel depleted and become exhausted as a result. There is also so much external stimuli constantly occupying our thoughts including social media, television, radio and mobile phones, try to deliberately not check your social media or phone for at least an hour do you feel agitated or concerned, the truth is we are often more addicted then we would like to admit, which can easily lead to us becoming completely disconnected from our own selves as we become so distracted and engrossed with the lives of others. Therefore meditation is a way for us to reconnect and redirect our thoughts so we can once again become fully aware of ourselves as it is so easy to become lost and lose sight of who we are and what is important to us. Meditation also helps to raise the connection with the crown chakra and hence our sense of consciousness and the higher the frequency in which we are able to operate at the more successful and abundant we will become in our lives. We are constantly processing different thought patterns which can cause confusion leading to feelings of emotional distress in the body, through the process of meditation we are able to gain clarity and insight through practising the many different forms of meditation including zen and loving kindness but also through using other components including our breath, visualisations, music, silence, affirmations and mantras. #meditation #whatismeditation #innerconnection
