How to find an authentic therapist and the right one for you

How to find an authentic therapist and the right one for you ?

Unfortunately I'm well aware that it is a minefield out there trying to find a professional therapist . This is mainly because the profession is not regulated strictly enough which is not only potentially dangerous but it also makes a mockery of the therapists who dedicate their lives to helping others.
So what are some ways that can help you to find a genuine and authentic therapist?
Word of mouth
Always the best way you can be assured if someone who is known well to you recommends someone you will be in safe hands .
Therapist Governing bodies
All the therapists who are advertised on the sites are fully qualified and insured as copies of both are necessary to be listed . Two suggested bodies are the CTHA (Complementary therapists Association) of which I'm listed in the top twenty therapists in the UK(which I'm very proud of!)
BACP.
The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Qualifications
If in doubt ask to see qualifications and do not proceed with treatment until you have seen them. A person who has not completed the relevant training is not a professional therapist . The training teaches you not only how to practice the therapy but also essential information to help you practice safely and be confident enough to hold a safe space for your client , in addition to maintaining the appropriate boundaries to keep both yourself and the client feeling reassured and respected.
Insurance
Your therapist should be fully insured , ask to see evidence of this before proceeding .
Website
Any professional will have a website and contact information . Read the website carefully and then speak to the therapist to see if the words match their approach to check for authenticity.
Trust your gut and intuition above everything else it's rarely wrong , do not be afraid to ask for evidence of authentic practice . You have every right to do this, you are trusting your health and wellbeing which is the most precious thing you possess so choose wisely. Any authentic ,professional therapist will have all the above.

Why is it so important to find the right therapist for you?
When you are searching for a therapist not just for energy work but for any treatment it is essential to find the right one to suit you but where do you start and what should you look for?
We have already explored professional credentials including insurance, adequate training, qualifications and a member of a governing body and yet a therapist may have all this and may still not be the right fit. So how can you find a genuine therapist in what can be a minefield ?
Here are some suggestions that you may find helpful
What is the intention of the therapist?
Is their focus on making a difference and helping you or making money? Sadly this cannot be overlooked as there are many therapists now especially related to Tantra whose primary focus is making money as opposed to the welfare of their clients. This is reflected in charging excessive rates for treatments ,and a feeling from the client that they are simply going through the motions instead of connecting fully and being passionate about their work.
How discreet are they?
Complete discretion is essential to ensure privacy for you especially if you are confiding in them.
Do they have a trustworthy character?
Do you feel comfortable enough with them to discuss concerns and issues that are relevant to you and are they able to hold a safe space with no judgement as this is essential.
Are they ego based or authentic in their representation of themselves and their work?
Unfortunately this is a common concern , with any form of healing it is you as the client that heals themselves not the therapist they merely work as a catalyst to assist you on your journey. Any therapist that claims otherwise is working with the ego as opposed the heart which is not only potentially dangerous but also completely ineffective as it is impossible to help some one heal if they are not ready within themselves or not willing to put in the relevant time and effort.
Are they willing to go at your pace ?
Everyone's journey is different it is essential to choose a therapist who is not only kind, but patient & flexible to ensure treatments are personally tailored .
