How can meditation help to ease Stress and Anxiety?

Meditation is a highly effective tool for releasing Stress from the body, it aids in encouraging a sense of inner peace and relaxation by reducing physical tension and lowering the heart rate, therefore lowering blood pressure and calming the nervous system , which reduces the levels of cortisol the Stress hormone.
When we are in a calmer state of mind we are able to become more conscious of our emotions and state of mind and so instead of simply reacting to a situation through pain or a lack of clarity through an increased sense of focus we can become aware of what we need at that given time.

For me personally my spiritual nature and practice has been essential in helping me throughout so many life challenges but particularly when recently I encountered devastating news that literally changed my life and it was my faith and my connection to myself and spirit that has helped me to process and navigate the way forwards. I'm lucky that I have wonderful people who surround me with so much love, but sometimes you embark on a journey that only you can take despite the good intentions of others who may want to help.

Please do not underestimate the healing abilities of these modalities, in times of extreme Stress or pain it is so easy to get hooked onto toxic substances such as alcohol or drugs which only numb the body and delay the inevitable pain you need to process to heal properly. There is always another way so embrace it.

As the better weather is now approaching , why not head out to the local park for some down time and meditation? Walking on the grass barefoot or even better hugging or sitting with your back to a tree is also incredibly grounding and healing..especially on a sunny day when you can soak up all that vitamin D!
Leave your phone at home and take a book instead ..
