What is spiritual healing and what is the role of the healer?

Spiritual healing can be seen and experienced through many different forms including continuous prayer, Reiki healing, Psychic surgery, Energy healing and Therapeutic healing. A connecting factor throughout is the channelling of healing energy from the healer into the body of the receiver in whatever form that takes.
A huge part of my life is now focussed on helping others to heal from previous trauma through my work with tantra and energy healing and throughout my sessions I have personally witnessed upon receiving this energy the receiver may feel a warmth, tingling or other physical and emotion reaction such as coughing, crying, laughing, trembling, feeling angry or experiencing changes in body temperature, as the blockages are released and wellbeing restored.
For me personally this is an incredibly responsible role and one that cannot be taken lightly and without the relevant experience or the correct intention and ability to hold a safe space. I have often had clients ask me when they were searching for someone to help guide them in their journey they were unsure of how professional and proficient they would be. I have now been working with energy and healing for over 30 years and this is what I have personally discovered.
The most important aspect is to search for a healer or guide who has the correct intention and has their focus on healing the receiver as opposed themselves, this may seem obvious but actually depending on the emotional state of the person doing the healing work this unfortunately can occur. For example what is known as a ‘wounded healer’ is someone who will feel they need to help others to heal because in doing so they themselves can get personal validation.
The ego will play a big part in their life and they will thrive on the praise they receive from feeling they have personally made that all important difference.
Of course in reality the healing energy does not come from a person but is channelled from source, meaning from God, angels, guides and the higher powers that be. An empowered healer is not attached to the outcome as they are well aware that it is the receiver’s responsibility to create change within themselves and they are merely a guide in the receiver’s journey.
Another important and equally essential aspect to consider is if the healer has the adequate training and experience to be able to professionally practice. Some people are natural healers from the time of their birth but despite this in my personal opinion this does not give you the necessary insight or knowledge to be able to confidently and safely hold space.
If a client goes into what is known as a ‘healing crisis’ and the healer has not had the relevant training or experience they will not know how to proficiently lead the client back into a safe space, this can prove invaluable as through working with numerous clients you will personally learn how different every person is and be able to confidently guide them as opposed to just acting on instinct.
If in doubt always ask to see the healer’s qualifications insurance, member ships of governing bodies and if possible references from previous clients for peace of mind prior to treatment.
Finally search for the healer who will respect your personal boundaries and not push you further then you are able to go. Again this is where experience is essential in determining when this time is and also the healers past personal experiences with trauma as often the most effective and compassionate healers are the ones who have faced trauma of their own and in doing so can personally relate and resonate with the emotions that the client is
experiencing.
A true spirit healer will recognise how far someone is able to go in their journey and will never take them beyond that point.
Please beware of any’ healer’ who exposes another person’s weaknesses or manipulates a situation for profit or self-validation. There will be times when it is inappropriate and not in the clients or anybody's best interests to perform a treatment and a professional will recognise this and respect guidelines.
An authentic healer will never place others at risk solely for their own financial gain and if they do they are not truly connected to their heart or indeed practising with integrity or respect for their fellow healers or clients.
Healing is a deeply personal journey and can take time, as a client it is essential to not only work at your own pace and comfort level but to find someone that you trust completely to guide you on your journey. Although I have now personally had over 30 years’ experience of guiding others there is still something new that I personally am taught every day, as through my work I am able to gain an insight into not only my own client’s minds but also my own .
This is precisely why constant self-development is so essential and continuous because we as human beings are constantly shifting our energy and evolving and in order to grow we need to stay connected to ourselves and others throughout so we can be confident we are practising with integrity and conviction in every aspect of our lives.
