What are the benefits of exercise and how often should you do it?

After the age of 30 our bodies start to gradually decline and hence regular exercise becomes more important than ever to keep us strong and healthy. The best exercise to keep our bodies young is resistance training with bands or weights to keep the joints supple and muscles strong and the exercise that ages us the fastest is running due to the stress on the joints, however it is still a very popular option as it's one of the best and easiest ways to stay in shape as no equipment is needed and you can do it anywhere and at anytime.
It is best to choose an exercise you enjoy , if you enjoy it rather than see it as a chore you are more likely to stick to it on a consistent basis , do your chosen activity for a minimum of 30 minutes daily but more if you are trying to lose weight or get fitter. Just allow a rest day in between workouts if you plan to exercise for longer to allow your body to recuperate and to rest the muscles so they don't get overworked particularly in the beginning as you are adjusting to your new routine.
Everyone can normally find this time and just incorporate it into your daily life ..it can be as easy as taking a brisk walk to school with your children and the dog, instead of the bus or swimming a few laps in the local pool.
There are many benefits to regular exercise including:
Improved mood due to the release of endorphins
Weight loss and maintenance
Reduced risk of serious health concerns including cardiovascular conditions, Cancer, heart disease and Diabetes
Stronger bones, tissues and joints and improved bone density
Improved sleep and skin health
Reduction in pain and also an improved sex life due to an increase in energy levels
So with all these benefits maybee it's time to leave the car on the drive put on your trainers and start reaping the benefits ..just remember to stretch before and afterwards otherwise you may be suffering the next day!
In case of sore muscles soak in a bath of epsom salts, stretch and if you are feeling brave take an ice bath, brutal but highly effective to release muscular aches and pains!
